High Tech Dental Services

Our in-office CEREC machine allows dental patients to have their crowns generated and placed in one dental appointment. CEREC technology is like having a private dental lab right in your dental office. High resolution 3D digital imaging scans the surface of the prepared tooth during the treatment appointment. This information is then sent to the milling unit where it mills a restoration from a block of porcelain to fit the prepared tooth exactly.

Using conventional techniques, the patient would have returned home with a temporary crown, waited 2 weeks, and then returned to have the permanent crown fitted. Our CEREC machine lets patients skip having a temporary crown or a 2nd appointment because the permanent crown is made while they’re still in the chair.

ZOOM whitening is an in-office procedure that allows our patients to visit and leave the office with whiter, brighter teeth in just one appointment. A special whitening gel is used, but the key is an in-office UV light treatment that speeds up the process. Shades are dramatically changed and there are no messy or time-consuming steps that you have to do on your own. ZOOM Whitening is great for patients who don’t have the time for daily whitening trays.

Sinsational Smiles is a revolutionary in-office whitening product available to patients that is affordable and requires shorter visits than Zoom treatments.  Each Sinsational Smiles Whitening tray is pre-loaded with the appropriate amount of whitening gel and placed in the mouth by the patient. An LED light is used for 20 minutes to activate the whitening catalyst inside of the gel, and after the treatment the patient has noticeably whiter teeth. It is ideally performed after a cleaning since the teeth are plaque free. The patient brings home a maintenance whitening pen for nightly use. Patients may return to their dentist as frequent or infrequently as they need for boost appointments.

The Kavo DIAGNOdent is an advanced piece of equipment that utilizes laser flourescence technology to detect signs of tooth decay earlier than traditional methods. This allows dentists to stop and treat the decay earlier, resulting in smaller restorations. Traditionally, dental instruments are used to check areas of suspected decay, but sometimes the grooves are too narrow and deep for the explorer to reach. Kavo DIAGNOdent can scan areas deep in the grooves of teeth, and return a reading to the clinician that reflects if there is active decay or not.

One of the most important steps in fabricating a tooth colored ceramic restoration (crown, veneer, onlay, inlay) is selecting the appropriate shade to match the rest of the teeth. This helps achieve as natural an appearance as possible. Teeth aren’t only one color, but have different shades throughout them. Using laser assisted wavelengths of light, the Vita Easy Shade can, with extreme accuracy, detect multiple shades on each tooth. This way the permanent restorations will match the rest of the mouth with as much precision as possible. Since the Easy Shade works in any type of ambient light, error associated with lighting during a clinician shade selection are eliminated.
The Easy Shade works in a similar manner to the scanners at the hardware store that match color samples and create paint of the same color.

OraVerse is a new product available that allows dentists to reverse the effects of anesthetic after a dental appointment. In the past when patients had dental work, their mouth might be numb for 4 to 6 hours afterward. OraVerse can reduce this recovery time by up to 50%, returning sensation in just one or two hours. Also administered by injection, it is delivered to the same areas where the local anesthetic is placed so there is no pain to the injection. It is thought to work by dilating the vessels in the area, allowing the body to cleanse the anesthetic from the soft tissues. OraVerse is the first and only medication regulated by the FDA to reverse the effects of anesthetics. It is approved for patients ages 6 and older.

OraVerse is indicated for the reversal of soft-tissue anesthesia, i.e., anesthesia of the lip and tongue, and the associated functional deficits resulting from an intraoral submucosal injection of a local anesthetic containing a vasoconstrictor.

OraVerse is not recommended for use in children less than 6 years of age or weighing less than 33 lbs.

Important Safety Information
In clinical trials, the most common adverse events with OraVerse (phentolamine mesylate) were post procedural pain, injection site pain, increased or decreased heart rate and headache. Following injections of phentolamine in non-dental procedures, substantial decreases in blood pressure have occurred which resulted in heart attacks as well as spasms and blocked blood vessels in the brain. Although such effects are uncommon with OraVerse, you should alert your doctor if you experience an increase in heart rate or abnormal heart rhythm (palpitations), particularly if you have a history of heart disease.

Orascoptic Loupes are advanced magnification lenses which aid in a clinician’s ability to view the area they are treating. Using these lenses, the area is magnified 20 times. The resolution and depth of field are clearer also. By utilizing these loupes, our doctors can see better, work more accurately and deliver the highest quality care possible.

Store-a-tooth is a stem cell storage facility which saves the extracted stem cells from teeth in a cryogenic state. While there currently are no uses for these cells, research is gaining momentum and success. In the future it is hoped that dental stem cells can be used to treat many conditions like diabetes, spinal cord injuries and periodontal (gum) disease (by regenerating lost bone between teeth).
Stem cells from cord blood and bone marrow help treat systemic diseases, and it is believed that in the future, dental stem cells may as well. Because these are not embryonic stem cells, there is no controversy over their use regarding therapy of their donor or close family member.
The banking system associated with Store-A-Tooth is about 1/3 of the cost of storing stem cells from umbilical cord blood.

under armour mouth guardsIf you participate in sports, there’s a good chance of oral trauma occurring. Statistics show that it’s not only contact sports, but activities like biking and swimming also often result in trauma to the teeth. Most of the time it’s the upper front teeth that get traumatized. If you or one of your children is active in sports, then a Sport Guard can easily help protect you from major dental trauma during activities. Over the counter guards are prone to slip and fall out, so they may not be secure enough to properly protect your teeth. The benefits of a custom made guard include: a tight fit, the ability to talk with the guard in place, superior protection against dental trauma and concussions and the ability to customize colors to match your team. Some athletes find them so comfortable that they never take them out during the entire game. Click here to learn more
